SDS-DVC (Students for a Democratic Society) Student rally and march through campus to fight back against the fee hikes, and cuts in student services at DVC and campuses all around the state. This is part of the larger March 4th strike and day of action.

§SDS builds for March 4th at DVC.

The SDS chapter at Diablo Valley College in the suburban East Bay has been working hard to bring the March 4th fight to their campus.

Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) has been a loud voice on behalf of the students at DVC. They have staged many protests and events on campus which include bringing speakers like Fred Hampton Jr. on campus, counter-recruitment, mobilizing students for off-campus protests and actions. They have been hard at work building for the March 4th day of action at DVC. This includes massive leafletting, picket sign making parties in the quad, and public open air meetings on strategies for March 4th.

SDS will be hosting a rally from 11am-2pm on campus which will include speakers, live music, a literature table, and a march through campus. Many groups are represented at SDS-DVC through individual members, including the IWW, Contra Costa Radical Action, the Peace and Freedom Party, and others.

The new SDS chapter at Napa Valley College will be down here joining in our protest against Fee Hikes and cuts in essential student services.

All legislative actions on revenue and budget
must be determined by a majority vote.

The 2/3 rule to pass budget and revenue legislation has resulted in:
Budget gridlock, Lack of democracy in the budgeting process, Near bankruptcy, Control by a minority of legislators, Heartless cuts to schools, parks, health care, public safety, public services

Revenue measures blocked by the 1/3 minority:
Corporate tax loopholes remain
Oil companies pay nothing for California oil
Unfair taxes remain unchanged

We can change this with a ballot initiative in November.
