An Evening With Eric Drooker: Slides, Music & Commentary
Visual artist Eric Drooker will give a musical slide lecture, projecting hundreds of his well-known provocative images. He'll explore his years as a street artist in New York City, the role of culture and politics, and his eventual infiltration of the mainstream.
Eric Drooker’s art has provided iconic imagery for countless political initiatives. His slide show and talk is one of the best of its type. The slide presentation will feature the artist on a variety of musical instruments.
Drooker is the award-winning author of Flood! A Novel in Pictures and Blood Song. His paintings are frequently seen on covers of The New Yorker. Recently he designed the animation for the film Howl, a movie starring James Franco, based on the epic poem by Allen Ginsberg, who collaborated with Drooker on the book Illuminated Poems.
The event will take place on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Kala Art Institute and Gallery, 2990 San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley, from 7-9:30 PM. There will be a question and answer period, a reception, and the artist will sign books and prints following the presentation.
Suggested Donation is $7.00. No one will be turned away for lack of funds
(This event is wheelchair accessible)
