Location Details:
People's Park in Berkeley, near Telegraph Avenue, between Dwight, Haste and Bowditch Avenues.
The Bevatron, a nuclear particle accelerator located at the Lawrence Berkeley Nuclear Labs on the campus of UC Berkeley, has an illustrious history as a world-class nuclear research facility. Decommissioned in 1993, it is now being demolished by the university and its remains are being transported, unprotected, through busy public streets in Berkeley and on interstate highways through California and other states. This is being done without regard to whether these materials may be contaminated with harmful levels of radiation. Please join us as we bear witness and document the passage of these shipments thru the streets of 'Nuclear-Free' Berkeley.
ALSO: It is a shout for animal rights and against the new UCB vivisection laboratory at Oxford and University Avenues, which will enable UCB to experiment on 68,000 animals, up from their previous 40,000.
