Join an important gathering of Bay Area activists to plan a 2010 campaign of direct action for a California single payer health care system.
We will map out a campaign of actions that will build on each other and build the movement.
Some possibilities:
* coordinated actions at insurance companies, the main obstacle to creating a universal health care system
* several weeks of continuous actions at Schwarzenegger's office, after SB 810 (the California Universal Health Care bill) passes the legislature. In previous years, Schwarzenegger has vetoed single payer, but we can make it politically costly for him.
* targeting the candidates for governor (none of whom support single payer) during the campaign -- especially Jerry Brown
* public free clinics in connection with any of the above
* die-ins and street theater, which we used very effectively in our previous actions at Blue Shield and the Ferry Building
* YOUR IDEAS
