Activists to Stage Solidarity Fast Outside of Egyptian Consulate in San Francisco
Members of the women's peace group CODEPINK will stage a hunger strike/fast outside of the Egyptian Consulate in San Francisco in solidarity with participants of the Gaza Freedom March in Cairo.
After receiving notice of the brutal harassment and intimidation by Egyptian security and the obstruction to enter into to Gaza by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, peace activists have decided to take action and stand in solidarity with their colleagues in Cairo.
Hedy Epstein, the 85 year old Holocaust survivor and peace activist, announced that she will begin a hunger strike today, December 28, as a response to the Egyptian government’s refusal to allow the Gaza Freedom March participants into Gaza. Ms. Epstein will remain outside of the UN building at the World Trade Center in Cairo.
CODEPINK activists, Nancy Mancias and Leslie Angeline, will be outside of the Egyptian Consulate located at 276 Mallorca Way in San Francisco on Monday Dec 28 4-6pm, Tuesday Dec 29 and Wednesday Dec 30 11-1pm.
