Jimmy Santiago Baca, born in New Mexico of Indio-Mexican descent, is a renowned poet and author, recipient of the American Book Award, and the prestigious International Award for his memoir, A Place to Stand. In his new and first novel, A Glass of Water, Baca’s rich imagery and moving narrative of a Mexican family’s migration and experience in southern New Mexico highlight the struggle of millions of immigrants who
strive for a better life.
The Cuban Five are five men unjustly imprisoned for more than 11 years by the U.S. government for protecting Cuba from attacks by Miami-based terrorists. A worldwide movement is fighting to free Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González.
Supporters of the Cuban Five include: Danny Glover, Alice Walker, Martin Sheen, Twelve Nobel Prize recipients including Desmond Tutu, The Trade Union Congress in Britain, Hundreds of Mexican, British, Canadian, European parliament members.
$10 Donation (no one turned away for lack of funds)
