Danny Blackgoat speaking in San Francisco!
Danny Blackgoat is a longtime Dine' (Navajo) resister of forced relocation. Traveling all the way from his home at Big Mountain, Danny Blackgoat (son of Roberta Blackgoat) will speak about his experience of the "land dispute" and recent happenings.
As part of his presentation, Danny Blackgoat will screen a 24 minute film called "Ancient Voices". The film features Big Mountain elder Pauline Whitesinger, with Danny Blackgoat translating. A preview clip is available here:

"We are resisting relocation and the coal mining not only for ourselves but for the whole world. Black Mesa must not be desecrated because of its sacredness --it provides life to all living things including all the human races."
The traditional Dine' (Navajo) of the Big Mountain region (in Northeastern Arizona) are under attack by the US government, being pushed off their land so that Peabody Coal company can move in and mine the largest coal deposit in North America. The Dine' and their supporters have been battling with Peabody Coal, the BIA, and state/local governments for over 30 years to stop a forced relocation from their homeland and the continuation/ expansion of mining operations.
There is a caravan of support crews going to Black Mesa over 'Thanksgiving' and any cash donations you can make during this event will go to support the elders and the caravan. Tools, food, and other supplies are also needed, and may be brought to this event.
