Join us for an open and participatory workshop to discuss white supremacy and how we, as white people, can dismantle racism in ourselves, in our movements for justice, and in our communities.
Challenging White Supremacy
Weds., Nov. 18th. 6pm
Peace and Justice Center
467 Sebastopol Ave., Santa Rosa
We will be hearing about and discussing
1. the histories of white supremacy and how white people have resisted racism
2. The benefits and privileges given to us as white people at the expense of people of color.
3. How racism affects our social movements and our relationships.
4. the work of Catalyst Project, an organization based in San Francisco that works to train principled white anti-racists to be strong allies and effective organizers in the movement for liberation and justice.
This will be the first of many group discussions aimed at fostering leadership among white activists and community organizers, with the ultimate goal of building strong multi-racial social movements for collective liberation.
Confronting racism is not only something we should do because it harms others, it is a means for realizing our full humanity and liberating ourselves from false senses of superiority.
This event is free. All are welcome, although the event is aimed specifically at white people working for social change, or interested in working for social change.
