Kandahar – Film, 85 min.
Join the RCNV for a showing of “Kandahar,” and an informal discussion afterward. The film, directed in 2001 by Mohsen Makhmalbaf, is set in Afghanistan during Taliban rule. The movie follows a young Afghan-Canadian woman, played by Nelofer Pazira, who receives a suicidal letter from her sister in Afghanistan. Pazira tries to make her way back to Afghanistan and goes through many trials and tribulations in the process. This film highlights many of the hardships that woman faced under the oppressive rule of the Taliban. There is no charge for the movie, however donations are greatly appreciated.
