Politicians and mainstream media pundits like to proclaim that the United States is now post-racial and that racism is a thing of the past. But while Jim-crow laws have been removed and legal segregation ended (except for in places like the California Prison System) racial inequality and racism remain a fact of life for millions of people in America.
Join activists from the Campaign to End the Death Penalty and Jack Bryson for a discussion of how racism is connected to the US justice system from racial profiling by police, to court rulings that punish the poor more harshly than the affluent, and the prison system that disproportionately locks up and executes poor people of color.
