Mobilizing Marin for Climate Action
Featuring David Solnit, author, organizer
and puppeteer
Author and activist David Solnit will present his puppet show "Climate Chaos or Climate Justice", and talk about:
* The growing global climate justice movement, the next major global movement.
* Bay Area mobilization and civil disobedience on Global Action Day, Nov 30, 2009.
* How fighting for climate justice is key to ending war and winning economic justice.
* The Copenhagen Climate talks, real and false solutions to climate change and global warming.
* The ten year anniversary of the Seattle WTO protests and the lessons for today, drawing from the new book, The Battle of the Story of the Battle of Seattle, edited by David Solnit and his sister Rebecca Solnit.
WHERE: First United Methodist Church of San Rafael,(in the basement) at the corner or Greenfield and Ross Valley Dr., just off the Miracle Mile (Fourth St.) across from Bedrock Music not far from Cafe Gratitude.more info: 721-7241
David Solnit lived and organized in Seattle in 1999 with the Direct Action Network, which the Art and Revolution Collective he co-initiated. He has been a mass direct action organizer since the early '80's, and in the 90's became a puppeteer and arts organizer. He is the editor of Globalize Liberation: How to Uproot the System and Build a Better World and co-author with Aimee Allison of Army of None; Strategies to Counter Military Recruitment, End War and Build a Better World. He currently works as a carpenter in Oakland, California and organizes with Courage to Resist, supporting GI resisters, and with the Mobilization for Climate Justice West.
