Award winning actor and director Margo Hall, and Chinaka Hodge, playwright in residence, team up to offer this exciting workshop at Intersection for the Arts. Instructors Hall and Hodge (who are collaborating on the next Campo Santo production, Mirrors In Every Corner) will share their unique insights and expertise with writers and actors of all levels. In this workshop you will:
develop your writing for the stage
push through writers block
hear what your work sounds like onstage
give/get critique
actors will have the ability to work with new artists on scripts and gain experience with cold readings
aspiring playwrights will work to improve writing for the stage
actors will expand their performance vocabulary through focused monologue and partnered scene work
everyone will be expected to move beyond comfort zones, as all participants will be encouraged to write and act.
**Some writing and performance experience is ideal, however this workshop is open to participants of all levels.
