Where were all the socialist organizations at this several thousand strong picket of the world's leading war criminal? Did anyone see any socialist organization or any socialist newspaper? By the end of the picket, there were perhaps 1,000 people, both picketers and onlookers. Earlier in the day, there were several thousand people, as these photos show. We need to speak to people other than ourselves to build a socialist movement to put an end to the profit motive that is the cause of all wars and the high unemployment, which is growing worse daily. Every opportunity to reach people must be used, and this was a golden opportunity. The local fascists were a very small group. Most people were either protesting this reactionary thug president or watching the pickets. We cannot talk to ourselves with little semi-annual peace strolls. We must be at every single event where we can reach as many new people as possible as we do not have any time to waste at all. And instead of just Jack Chernos singing, we needed all the labor choruses in this area singing labor songs as only labor can put an end to the profit motive and we need to build a labor consciousness.
