Bernard Tschumi Architects, based in Paris and New York, focuses on forward-looking projects that explore the interface between 21st-century conditions and architecture. The firm was established in Paris in 1982 with the commission for the Parc de la Villette, a $300-million, 125-acre cultural facility designed as an “urban park for the 21st century.”
Recent major, award-winning projects include the new Alfred Lerner Hall student center on the Columbia University campus in New York, the Museum for African Art in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in São Paulo, and the New Acropolis Museum in Athens. Bernard Tschumi is a permanent resident of the United States with dual French and Swiss citizenship. He has taught at Columbia University, the Architectural Association School in London, the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in New York, Princeton University, and the Cooper Union.
