Felicia Ward was born in San Francisco in 1953. She was a community activist before turning her attention to writing fiction; her work organizing women of color is documented in Carolyn Shaffer’s book Creating Community Anywhere and Rachel Bagby’s book Divine Daughters: Liberating the Power and Passion of Women’s Voices. Ward’s award-winning story “Good Night Moon” first appeared in Nimrod Journal and received the Katherine Anne Porter Prize for fiction. In 2002 she was awarded a Stegner Fellowship in fiction. She is currently at work on a novel.
