Ralph Schoenman speaks with FRSC programmer Louis LaFortune on the origins of the crisis in Iran. Mr. Schoenman lived in Iran during the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and was involved in that struggle.
He spoke about the involvement of the Iranian workers in the overthrow of the government of Shah Reza Pahlavi, and the state of Iranian society following the disputed presidential election in which President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad retained his office, in spite of widespread charges of fraud and massive protests. Mr. Schoenman was Secretary Director of the International Tribunal on U.S. War Crimes in Indochina, and Executive Director of the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation.
