JR Valrey and a co-defendant appeared in court Monday to fight bogus charges in relation to the January Rebellions sparked by the murder of Oscar Grant. In attendance were a number of national figures from the struggle against police and prisons, including Fred Hampton Jr. of the Prisoners of Conscience Committee (POCC), as well as M-1 and Umi of dead prez/RBG. Cynthia McKinney had previously expressed her support.
The outcomes:
JR's case is put off until the end of October. As proof that this system values corporate investment over the law it claims to uphold, his co-defendant will be able to plead to reduced charges and have other charges dropped if he pays restitution for damages.
Don't forget to check out M-1's "From the Ghetto to Gaza" tour, which begins in Sacramento today, with later dates in Oakland and SF!
