my concern about this protest is that it is self-serving. what about global warming or John Yoo or homelessness?
it's really an issue of your own immediate needs as students and uc faculty disguised as a protest of social issues.

Many of us at the UC represent and come from various and marginalized communities. As people of color, immigrants, poor folks, first generation, queer/trans people and many other communities, these issues are not simply about rich white kids talking about paying more money for school. For many of us, the UC (through community college transfers) was and is the only way we could attend college. In short, our issues are also part of larger, global issues and the further privatization of the UC must be resisted just like other aspects of something once called the commons. It seems maybe your version of "global politics" show, once again, some people's inability to think the global through its local incarnations. Or in other words, the political is not as simple as you think. (if you are looking for that, contact The World Cant Wait)
