Help clean up the rail line!
The County Regional Transportation Commission is now finalizing negotiations for the purchase of the 31-mile Coastal Rail Corridor, from Union Pacific, with a decision due by the end of the year. The corridor stretches from Watsonville, through Santa Cruz, up to Davenport, and will one day be home to the Santa Cruz Green Line—a trail and train system that will provide clean, pleasant, and practical transportation options for Santa Cruz County residents. Through voter-approved Proposition 116, the State has money specifically set aside for the purchase.
Join in with People Power and the Friends of the Rail Trail on Sunday September 27th at 1pm as we clean up the rail line, starting at both the east side of the San Lorenzo River Trestle, and at the Bike Station in Aptos Village. Our efforts will show the Transportation Commission and our elected officials that we care about the rail corridor and want the purchase to be approved as soon as possible.
