"INFORMATION IN ACTION": SPEAK OUT!

We've now had three weeks of vigorous, effective protest actions at UC Berkeley, calling for Torture Professor John Yoo to be fired, disbarred, and prosecuted for war crimes. On Yoo's first day back in the classroom 60 people attended a dramatic press conference, then took our message into the law school and into Yoo's classroom. Four were arrested. This protest made national press including CNN News.

Twice since, we've led noontime actions at Sproul Plaza (the campus crossroads). We return Wednesday, September 9:

Join us for this speak-out. Represent the detainees: wear their jumpsuits, flyer the crowd.

Then join a delegation planning to meet with Dean Christopher Edley.

It's time for an urgent public discussion: A war criminal walks the campus: what course of responsibility and action is appropriate for the university and its law school? Come ask Dean Edley about his plans for when and where this public discussion will take place.

Friends: serious protests and a climate and culture of resistance are what's required now, bold and frequent and growing. Whether this protest takes the form of marching, or holding speakouts and press conferences - going among students with challenging information and calls to action, or organizing debates and programs - more and more people have to take part in challenging the entire university community over the presence of this war criminal. John Yoo must be fired, disbarred, and prosecuted for war crimes. The world can't wait.
