Labor Day Observance
As Labor Day approaches Bay Area labor leaders and human rights activists remind us of the ongoing struggles of workers. Focusing on the recent coup d'etat in Honduras, Alan Benjamin of the San Francisco Labor Council; Marin Robinson, Coalition for Justice in the Maquiladoras; and Carolina Dutton, Task Force on the Americas, will report on the status of workers in the midst of ever-increasing repression. They will discuss the Honduran labor and resistance leaders who have been detained, beaten, disappeared, and even killed for speaking out for democracy and demanding the return of President Manuel Zelaya.
