Earth Days—A Robert Stone Film
http://www.earthdaysmovie.com/ -
A visually stunning and compulsively entertaining look back at the days before "Going Green," Earth Days recounts the dawn and development of the modern environmental movement, from the 1962 publication of Rachel Carson's incendiary bestseller Silent Spring, to the first Earth Day celebration in 1970 and beyond. Using a lively assemblage of archival material, filmmaker Robert Stone also films contemporary interviews with some of the era's key pioneers: former Secretary of the Interior Stewart Udall; biologist/Population Bomb author Paul Ehrlich; Whole Earth Catalog founder Stewart Brand; Apollo 9 astronaut Rusty Schweickart; renewable energy advocate Hunter Lovins; original Earth Day organizer Denis Hayes; former congressman Pete McCloskey; Limits to Growth co-author Dennis Meadows; and environmental journalist Stephanie Mills. Earth Days is both a poetic meditation on humanity's complex relationship with nature and an engaging history of the revolutionary achievements (and missed opportunities) of eco-activism. Writer/Producer/Director: Robert Stone. (US 2009) 102 min
