BONE UP ON DELTA DEBATE: Those wanting to learn more about decisions affecting the Delta are invited to a forum on state water policies Sunday.
The discussion will revolve around the so-called peripheral canal, a hotly debated proposal to build a channel along the outskirts of the Delta that would divert freshwater from the Sacramento area to pumps near Tracy that would distribute it to Central and Southern California.
The forum is the first in a series focusing on a variety of environmental matters concerning Contra Costa County.
The fledgling grass roots group East Contra Forum is organizing the meetings along with members of the Green Party.
Additional forums will take place at 1 p.m. the last Sunday of each month at the Red Caboose.
Call Paul at 925-308-4354.
