Tired of hearing about how the whole world is going to shit and feeling powerless to stop it? We are too.
That's why IMPACT! is organizing a series of workshops, interactive discussions and activities to give young people the skills they need to organize in their community, campuses and workplaces, and empower themselves to take action for social justice.
Some things that will be discussed include:
What is community organizing? Why is it important?
Campaign/Action Strategy
Communicating your message to the public
Building grassroots social movements
Dealing with the media
History of youth movement in Petaluma (last 4-6 years, roughly)
IMPACT!- Vision and Principles
Anti-Racism/Sexism
We'll also be watching a short movie, having various discussions and role-plays, and there's also probably a couple surprises in store for all attendees
This workshop will start on Saturday, August 29th, from 6pm-10pm, at 1251 Marian Way
Then, the next day, we will be meeting at the Phoenix Theater from 10-4pm.
Food will be provided.
This event is absolutely free and open to the public. Please spread the word.
