Twitter - One Big Government Endorsed Attempt at Big Brother

by Simon H. (sh......@ucsc.edu)
An advisory about Twitters suspicious rise to fame, media and government endorsement.

So you were watching T.V. one day and all the sudden you were told twitter is the new craze. Suddenly people in the public eye were outright endorsing twitter from politicians to Steven Colbert, even your minister at church. So you went out and got a twitter to see what the craze was all about. Simply streaming updates on your thoughts, what your doing, and market research mechanisms. You left a few messages on it and got over it, but some of your friends really got into it. A week later you search your name on Google, and to your surprise everything you had ever written on twitter was available for everyone to see. Talk about disturbing. So let's say hypothetically you are opposed to the way your government is operating and you decide to voice your opinion on the matter.... you may just be red flagged and investigated. Furthermore if that is not scary enough try getting a job within the system after you have written opinion's. While there are higher levels of security around other social networking utilities such as Facebook and Myspace they tend to fall into the same category of watchful eye mechanisms and market research monsters that play on your every desire, and fear.

So do yourselves a favor and keep the things you think could come back to bite you in the ass to yourselves, be smart about what you say because weather you like it or not we live in an ever growing police state who's motives are of power and monetary gain. You are an ant my friend. Enjoy your life, it will be hard but make the most of it. Enjoy the natural world and try to live outside of your computer screen because the things that truly matter are feeling alive having experiences and breathing fresh air while it still exists.

It should be the same as posting on Indybay. If you want to be anonymous that is probably best for your career.

I always felt the same about these "social networking" sites. On Facebook, I get inundated by well-meaning "friends" and real life friends with games, contests, clubs to join (absolutely meaningless drivel IMO) and when you click to agree with joining, a box opens which informs you that these groups will have access to all your info including your friends. BUt as for you getting onfo on the application designers true identities? Good luck. Creepy. If a real stranger in the flesh asked for these things you would probably say "get lost" but for some weird reason because it is a cute ad everyone bites the rotten apple. I don't get it. Are we all that bored?

Thanks for the post! Oh BTW if any site is being monitored by the NSA it is Indybay. So watch what you say here folks! Many of you have already been put on some list, of that I am certain.
