THE HONDURAN COUP D’ETAT AND ITS IMPACT IN LATIN AMERICA

PROGRAM:

6:30 – 7:00 p.m.: Hors D’oeuvres and soft drinks.

7:00 – 7:05 p.m.: Introduction by Salvador Cordon, Coordinator, FMLN –
Northern California.

7:05 – 7:20 p.m.: Update about the coup d’etat by Zenaida Velazquez,
Honduran living in the Bay Area, founder of COFADEH, the Committee of
Family Members of the Detained/Disappeared of Honduras.

7:20 – 7:35 p.m.: Update about the current situation in Honduras by
Andres Conteris, who worked as a Human Rights advocate in Honduras
from 1994-99 and have led a number of delegations there. He will be
leading the Global Exchange Reality Tour to Honduras from August 7-17.

7:35 – 8:00 p.m.: “The Honduran Coup D’Etat and the ALBA” by Marcos
García, Venezuelan labor union leader and Officer of the Venezuelan
Embassy in Washington D.C. in charge of Labor Rights.

8:00 – 8:25 p.m.: “The Honduran Coup D’Etat and its impact in Central
America and El Salvador,” by Jackeline Rivera, Congresswoman, member
of El Salvador Legislative Assembly’s International Relations
Commission.

8:25 – 9:00 p.m.: Q & A
