When Israel was doing 1,000 times worse to the people of Gaza than anything the Iranian government might be doing to the yuppies of North Tehran, where was the Mega Rally in solidarity with the Palestinian people?
In the 5 1/2 years since the U.S. kidnapped the President of Haiti, during which time thousands have been killed or imprisoned in horrific conditions without any trial, some of them for over 5 years, where was the Mega Rally in solidarity with the Haitian people?
And, if one is really in solidarity with the Iranian people, and not just the urban middle- and upper-class, why isn't the main demand "U.S., Israel Hands Off Iran!"?
Despite its non-political pretensions, this global(ist) "Mega Rally" is in support of the neoliberals who lost the Iranian election and are trying for another "color revolution" of the kind that the imperialists managed to pull of in the Ukraine and Georgia, among other places. The presence of some useful idiots like Medea Benjamin doesn't make this anything but an imperialist operation.

Arron,
No offense, well maybe some, but if you do not believe that the Iranian govt. is brutally repressing the people who have stood up to demand an end to corruption, voter fraud and dictatorship, and that the people who have taken to the streets are "yuppies from N. Tehran" who have been stirred up by US, British, and Israeli intelligence, then you need to go and get your f@$%ing head examined.
Iran is a brutal Islamic fundamentalist regime who have violently cracked down on a democracy movement that has risen up. The same way that the a repressive Communist Chinese govt. cracked down on the demonstrators in Tinamen Square. I am sure that alot of Communist whack jobs, like the RCP, probably criticized solidarity protests around the world during the massacre in Tinamen Square, and tried to use the argument: ' Why don't people criticize US imperalism'. Well, US imperalsim should be criticized, but so should authoritarian communist regimes like China. Israel should be criticized for what they done to the Palestians, but so should Iran for how it has cracked down on these demonstrators. Do you really think people like Neda Agha-Soltan, the women shot and killed on video is a "yuppie from N. Tehran". Here is the link of the video if you don't believe me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=related&v=MbVfs8N9-I4&skipcontrinter=1. Would you really say such a thing if her family was right in front of you? Damn, Arron!!! Iran should criticized and condemended just as much as Israel. Just as much as the US in Iraq. People should condemn Israel, the US and other rouge and repressive nations, but to exclude Iran, and the regime in power in Tehran, as one of those nations, is wrong.
Give me a break Arron! You suck!

If you're going to personally attack actual people you disagree with, at least use your own name, not a ridiculous anonymous handle.
