New Jagannatha Puri Temple, 2334 Stuart Street, 1/2 block west of Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley's university district.
Chanting of the holy names on Telegraph Avenue, with a possible stop in People's Park. The practice of chanting holy names is performed in India for engaging the Divine in cooperation with the humanity for success in conflict. The Mahabharata epic explains the necessity of working with Deity to win the battle, and restore dharma in times of confusion and atheistic chaos. Please come by the temple at one o'clock every Saturday for FREE prasadam (Indian style vegetarian cooked food), followed by a kirtan procession on Telegraph Avenue.
