Economic disaster, unemployment, homelessness, hunger, the dust-bowl, labor camps, all in... 1930's America! From Oklahoma and elsewhere, dispossessed farmers migrate westward to California. After terrible trials en route they become little more than slave labor. Among the throng are the Joads who refuse to knuckle under. Based on the classic and controversial John Steinbeck novel set in the Salinas Valley.

SANTA CRUZ GUERILLA DRIVE-IN is an outdoor movie theater under the stars that springs up unexpectedly in the fields and industrial wastelands. Beyond showing great free movies and bringing a broad community together, part of our mission is reclaiming public space and transforming our urban environment

BRING: blankets, pillows, friends, drink, & snackies to share for intermission. Donations to support the project are more than welcome.

To improve accuracy-
This GDI will start with Shorts at 8:30pm, NOT 8pm
(8pm is the slave-band, thumbnail for the GDI summer season)
Feature will start around 9:15 and ends about 11:30
We begin at DUSK- twilight, the time of flux, spirits and magic, just before it's completely dark. As many of you know- this time changes with the season, hence if you show up at 8pm you can see the early secrets of the GDI REVEALED... even the bamboo-box trick! You'll be guaranteed a good seat, get to know your neighbors and, you can even help put on the show!
To early birds, all will be revealed.
