Rules of the Fifth Wall - a new play by Kathleen Cole Burke

The Rules of the Fifth Wall by Kathleen Cole Burke is freethinking approach to theater that blurs the barrier between audience and performer. It does this by making the audience a main character with dialogue, action, and a program that turns into a script. At the beginning of the play the actors recite rules this production will follow that deviate from established rules of the theater. While attempting to perform a socially relevant, politically conscious play, the characters’ personal lives and relationships derail and the play ends up being a journey through the relationship of Man and Woman. Through their inability to reconcile their differences, they highlight society’s own inability to support and connect individuals to the group.
