Hallinan, who views Obama's strategy with skepticism, likens the scene in Afghanistan to "that frustrating puzzle of intersecting blocks that only works when everything fits perfectly." Hallinan formerly ran the journalism program at UC Santa Cruz and helps select the articles published in Project Censored's annual compilation of underreported stories.
