Artist Talk with April Martin & Brooke Singer
Often, the image of a subversive political act can have as deep an impact on society as the act itself. In turn, powerful images often inspire activism. This program brings together interdisciplinary artist Brooke Singer (AIR '09) and filmmaker and videographer April Martin (AIR '09) to interrogate the relationship between art, democracy and activism as it relates to their current work. Singer's ongoing Superfund365 project makes visible the government's effort to clean up uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. Martin's activist art practice includes her first documentary film as well as a recent video she created for the clemency hearing of an Ohio prison inmate on death row. Singer and Martin will present works-in-progress and consider the effects and uses of activist art.
We ask that you kindly RSVP to public programs by visiting http://www.headlands.org or emailing info [at] headlands.org.
Have you dined at Headlands?
The public is invited to join the Headlands community for a delicious dinner in the Mess Hall at 6PM in conjunction with all public programs. Dinners are prepared by Headlands’ Chef Keith Mercovich, whose meals demonstrate a commitment to innovative and locally sourced cuisine. Dinner is just $20 per person ($15 for Headlands Members). Reservations are required three business days prior to an event. Please email info [at] headlands.org to make a reservation for dinner or RSVP to a public program. Reservations can also be made online at http://www.headlands.org
