A day after 3500 marriage equallity supporters rallied at Fresno City Hall Conservative Fresno area churces rally for "traditional marriage". About 800 fundamentalist bigots including local politicians rallying at Fresno City Hall are confronted by about 50 equallity supporters. At one point about 20 of the counter protestors crossed the street to directly confront the bigots. So called Christian monitors pushed, head butted and elbowed equallity supporters to try to get them back across the street. One person in the crowd yelled at one of the monitors "I have an elbow to Mother fucker and if you push me one more time I'll use it". At that point he and the other monitors backed off a little. Towards the end of the rally as people were leaving 4 motorcyclists rode within a few feet of the equallity supporters as they stood in a prayer circle and reved their engines like they were going to drive through the crowd. At this point several protestors stood and one sat down in front of their bikes. Fresno Police officers came over and made the motorcyclists leave.

We only need 700,000 votes to win gay marriage and we can easily get that from Los Angeles County, as well as registering every American citizen ages 18-35 and pushing them to the polls. Fresno is one of the worst counties on gay marriage and simply does not have enough pro-gay marriage votes. Fresno voted 68% for Prop 8 and the total votes, pro and con, on Prop 8, were 270,000, and is a very poor county. Los Angeles County voted 49.9% No on Prop 8, with a combined total of 3 million votes, a county that has 10 million residents with the rule of thumb being 25% children, so we can say there are 7,500,000 adults in Los Angeles County. Even if some are non-citizens, that is still a huge population. WE MUST HAVE LOS ANGELES COUNTY WITH US TO WIN ANY WORTHWHILE ISSUE. AND WE BETTER HAVE SACRAMENTO COUNTY, ORANGE COUNTY, SAN DIEGO COUNTY AND VENTURA COUNTY TOO IN NOVEMBER 2010.

GAY MARRIAGE IS AN URBAN ISSUE, SUPPORTED BY COMPARATIVELY WEALTHY COUNTIES AND UNIVERSITY COMMUNITIES AS MARRIAGE BY DEFINITION IS A PROPERTY RELATIONSHIP, A MIDDLE CLASS MONEY ISSUE.

ALL CAMPAIGNS ARE WON IN THE PRECINCTS. WE HAVE TO WALK, PHONE AND MAIL TO THE PRECINCTS THAT VOTED AT LEAST 40% NO ON 8. In those counties and precincts, we must register every citizen, find out who supports gay marriage, and push them to the polls in November 2010. Remember, WE WON 47.7% OF THE VOTE WITH A WEAK CAMPAIGN AND NOT ENOUGH YOUNG PEOPLE, AGES 18-35, VOTING. HERE ARE THE COUNTIES THAT VOTED AT LEAST 40% NO ON 8 AND THEY ARE MOSTLY THE HEAVILY POPULATED COUNTIES:
County Percentage Combined Vote
Alameda 62% 600,000
Alpine 56% 600 (congratulations to this small county in Lake Tahoe area, resort area for SF Bay Area)
Butte 43.9%110,000 (congratulations to this small county, home to Chico State University)
Contra Costa 55.4% 450,000
Humboldt 60.1% 37,963

Yolo 58.7% 79,000 (Congratulations to this small county near Sacramento.)

A leading cause of the 68% no vote in Fresno County on Prop. 8 was that there were very few resources alocated here by the No on 8 campaign. We raised money here and it was used to run ads in SF and LA. The ads against prop. 8 in Fresno started about a week before the election. The entire central valley was written off by the no on 8 campaign.
The yes on 8 campaign had tons of ads running here every day.
Next time we need a Statewide campaign.
