Location Details:
On the sidewalk in downtown Santa Cruz across from the Farmer's Market at Cedar and Lincoln Sts...on Lincoln on the sidewalk in front of Jack's Hamburgers and across the street on the sidewalk in front of the Cavalry Episcopal Church
Originally intended as a protest against discriminatory treatment of youth and homeless people at Jack's Hamburgers, the event has evolved into a meeting of all sides.
To discuss the problems that have arisen there and to find new common solutions that benefit merchants, customers, and the community.
In response to complaints about homeless discrimination, Jack's management is putting forth some peace proposals and guidelines.
Also under discussion: Cavalry Episcopal's recent decision to drive homeless and young people away from its lawns.
Hot soup will be served compliments of Gumbojumbo Joe Schultz.
Copwatch volunteers will be nearby to survey the scene to watch the watchers.

A protest evolves into a Joe Schultz soup feed with "peace proposals" and lovey-dovey sentiment?
I think Robert Norse is evolving.
Good on ya mate!!

LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN WITH THE ACTUAL FLIER...
These two flyers were distributed today outside Jack's. They were further amended after discussions with Connie, the Jack's owner, and those who were excluded from Jack's. Connie and those excluded have not yet met directly. But there seems a willingness on both sides to move on. Connie is agreeing to readmit those turned away and not exclude homeless people who sit on the grass across the street (as she says she has been the case all along--exclusions have only been, she says, for cause). Those excluded say they're willing to follow the rules of Jack's as outlined by Connie (as they say they have been doing all along).
What's happened in the past is not as important as future relations, and hopefully those will be improved.
