Saturday May 30 - 12pm - 4pm -De Anza College
Join us at this special event, with Liliana Garcia, a well-known community activist and leader of the Fourth International in Mexicali, Baja California. Garcia has been a central organizer in the struggle against the privatization of PEMEX, for workers' rights in the Maquiladoras, and for immigrant rights on both sides of the border.
Garcia is coming to the U.S. to speak about the wave of revolution sweeping across Latin America - from Bolivia, to El Salvador, to Venezuela - and the growing resistance movement in Mexico to confront the current crisis caused by the mix of the swine flu, the recession, and the militarization imposed by the corrupt, fraudulent government.
Rico Blanc, a Bay Area youth immigrants' rights activist, will speak about the current economic crisis, the potential for a new mass radicalization like in the 1930s, and the future of capitalism and socialism.
12-2 pm - "Can Capitalism Survive?: The Current Financial Crisis and the Revolutionary Alternative"
2-4 pm - "Social Crisis and Revolutionary Resistance in Mexico and Latin America"
