If you think independent civilian investigators outside of the OPD Internal Affairs Department should be the ones investigating citizen complaints against Oakland police officers, then show up to voice your support!
Let the Oakland City Council know that you are tired of Internal Affairs "investigating" most citizen complaints regarding police brutality and unprofessional conduct and that this inherent conflict of interest must end.
You can fill out a speaker's card online to reserve time to support the civilianization program: http://www.oaklandnet.com/cityclerk/speaker_instructions.cfm. It will be items #6 and #7 on the agenda for the the Public Safety Committee meeting.
