KPFA is the flagship of the Pacifica Radio Network & began broadcasting April 15, 1949 as the first listener-sponsored radio station. Founded by World War II conscientious objector Louis Hill. We will honor the communities of people who have worked and struggled to keep this invaluable institution alive and lively.
