On May 1st, International Workers' Day, immigrant rights organizations, workers’ rights groups, unions and social justice organizations will gather at Dolores Park at 12 pm on the third anniversary of the Great Boycott of 2006, followed by a march to Civic Center at 2 pm. They will march under the banner of “Workers without borders - United in struggle.”
This march and rally is part of a national day of action to call attention to the unfinished agenda of fixing our country’s broken immigration system, and to address concerns over the economic crisis and cuts to vital social services. “As the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency steps up operations to capture and carry out raids and deportations and the economic crisis drags on with no end in sight, the need for all workers in the U.S. to unite and organize is imperative”, exclaims march organizer Jessica Sanchez. Sanchez along with many others is part of the May First Organizing Committee, a coalition of various groups planning this event.
On April 14th at noon, the May First Organizing Committee will be holding a press conference to officially announce the march and rally for May 1st .
