Opening Day @ AT&T Park
Gather @ 2nd & Folsom (611 Folsom)
10:30AM March for Justice to the Park
The Communications Workers of America encourage you to join us in a March for Justice. We’ll take our message to AT&T on Opening Day @ AT&T Park. Our Union Contracts expired on April 4 and we’re currently working without a Contract. AT&T is following an extremely greedy, mean-spirited policy at the Bargaining table. It’s a reflection of how they relate to the people of California in general. While they do ‘Spread the Wealth Around,’ (among the lobbyists), they’ve been eliminating jobs while ignoring Safety concerns for the people. Now they want to roll back the hand of time on Health Care. AT&T wants to shift the cost of Health Care onto us rather than joining with us to create Health Care reform in this country, extending coverage to the millions of uninsured and underinsured working families.
Refusing to even Bargain concerning Health Care of Retirees - the folks that built the Phone Company - management shows their real cards. $12.9 Billion in profit during the past year alone is what we’ve contributed. We’ve built this corporation into an extremely successful company. Among the most profitable corporations in the world, management needs to rethink their priorities. We refuse to accept that $12.9 Billion profit isn’t enough. In fact, management needs to share some of the wealth that we’ve produced. We didn’t work this hard, doing this good of a job to simply enrich the CEO. $50-60,000 per day for the CEO should be unheard of, yet management seems to think this is OK and that retirees should figure out how to pay for their health care.
Join us as we expose the real AT&T. Management likes to put on expensive shows while they loot the people. Look over here at the nice park we built, so that you don’t look over there where we’ve eliminated jobs and ignored Safety concerns. Look over here at the nice gift we have for you, but don’t look at how it got there. They’re looting the people of California and now they want to take our union to the tool shed. We’re not having it. Join us as we demand fairness & justice. Share the Wealth – Don’t Cut Our Health!
We’ll be having constant mobilization activities - increasing the heat on AT&T management to bargain fairly. This corporation is not hurting. We refuse to allow them to cynically use the economic crises to cry wolf, acting as if they are hurting from the economic crises. It’s time to hold these greedy corporations accountable. We’re simply asking for justice - but we’ll accept nothing less!

Picket Party - This is fun. Be careful.
