Oakland, CA—Join Centro Legal de la Raza’s board, staff, and supporters at our 40th Anniversary Dinner on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Scottish Rite Center located at 1547 Lakeside Drive in Oakland, CA. The reception begins at 6:00 P.M. with a dinner and awards ceremony following at 7:00 P.M. and a dance at 9:00 P.M.
The awards ceremony promises to be a very memorable evening with legendary labor leader Dolores Huerta receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for her years of fighting tirelessly for the rights of farm workers, working families, women, and children. María Blanco, Executive Director of the Chief Justice Warren Institute on Race, Ethnicity and Diversity at the University of California, Berkeley Law School, will receive the Community Justice Award for her work as a litigator and advocate for immigrant rights, women's rights, and racial justice. We will also honor the University of California, Berkeley Law School alum who founded Centro Legal de la Raza in 1969 with the Visionary Leadership Award.
Centro Legal de la Raza is a comprehensive legal services agency committed to protecting and promoting the rights of immigrant, low-income, and Latino communities through bilingual legal representation, education, and advocacy. We provide services in the areas of housing, employment, immigration, family law, and consumer protection to 9,000 individuals and families each year.
