Home 2009: Our annual show

Creative Growth, the world’s oldest and largest art studio for adults with disabilities celebrates the first anniversary in their newly renovated home and presents their much-anticipated annual Home show, celebrating the art of the humble abode. House, apartment, camper, office, Yurt, Creative Growth has artwork to fit every style!

Featured this year are phenomenal miniature paper dresses, and Claes Oldenburg inspired fake food, created in a workshop with Albuquerque based visiting artist Ann Dunbar.

Look for one of a kind ceramics from over 70 Creative Growth artists; ceramics for the garden and the dinner table, hooked rugs, hand painted furniture and a “backyard” installation with plants donated by East Bay favorite Berkeley Horticultural.

Not to be missed--an evening-long musical performance by California based all-women band, The Creole Belles bringing the raw, driving authenticity of southwest Louisiana dancehalls to the Creative Growth gallery!

Join us for barbeque and beer with treats donated by Oakland line-down-the-block favorite Bakesale Betty.

Opening event is free and open to the public. Also open Saturday, May 9, 11am to 4pm and for Oakland Art Murmur June, 5, 7:00-9:00pm. (Regular gallery hours, M-F 11:00-5:30pm)
