10 reportedly arrested at Civic Center rally yesterday

by Kim Rohrbach
Yesterday, as one might have predicted, the police simply turned their cheeks to ignorant and bilious pro-Israeli demonstrators who were doing their best to start up trouble by publicly disparaging Tristan Anderson in the most crass and baseless of fashions. Dozens and dozens of officers, on the other hand, chose to storm Civic Center Plaza and beat down to the pavement a number of youths such as one whom I witnessed being brutalized.
I have since received word that a total of ten were arrested but have heard nothing further.

The cops were sure to form a broad and ever-expanding circle between members of the public at large (i.e. prospective witnesses to their brutality) and those whom they were in the midst of assailing with batons and whatever else.

I viewed one young woman who was sporting a raw red mark, as wide as a baton, over one of her eyes. The mark was several inches in length. The young woman was crying tears of outrage and was shrieking.

folks should try callin the nlg hotline for protests to give evidence of what happened, esp. if they've got photos, video, etc.
