Sacramento Area Anti-War Events on Thursday - the War Anniversary

by Dan Bacher
Here is a summary of the anti-war events in the Sacramento area on Thursday, March 19, courtesy of John Reiger of Veterans for Peace.
Hi peace activists,

As you now know (if you didn't already) from the subject of this message this coming Thursday is the anniversary of the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. A number of demonstrations and events are happening that day. I hope you can join us.

7-8:30 AM - 3rd and J Streets, Sacramento - Please join us to greet the arriving commuters with anti-war signs reminding them that the occupation continues, people are still dying, money is still being wasted, etc. This fiasco has gone on longer than WW II !!! We need you early-birds to show up for this one - the weather will be chilly but OK. Last year's turnout was good, let's do better this time

4:30-6 PM - Howe And Fair Oaks Boulevards - An anti-war rally. This one is for the sleepy heads and those of you who still have a job. A very large crowd last year. Bring signs, or just yourself.

7-9 PM - A Candlelight Peace Vigil at the Unitarian Auditorium, 2425 Sierra Blvd., Sac.. Talks, tabling (by good-guy groups, including Veterans For Peace), and music (probably). An uplifting experience!

Now is the time to keep up the pressure for peace. Lots of people as assuming the Obama will "solve everything," but you and I know that nothing good will happen unless we make it clear that we expect the new administration to move in the direction of peace.

Yours for a better tomorrow,
John C. Reiger
