Location Details:
Glen Park BART station (corner of Diamond and Bosworth)
We will take in a side of SF that even long-time residents may not have seen, going from glen park to twin peaks and to some newly created trails on Mt Sutro. While some may enjoy tooling to the top of hills as fast as possible, stops will allow others to catch up. While technical descents are encouraged, no points will be awarded for speed. Your bike should have reliable brakes and at least a knobby front tire and be ready to hit rough surfaces as only a few blocks of the tour will be on paved roads. We will share a picnic on the roof of San Francisco, and pause to reflect on the historical movement that Kropotkin called “the enclosure” and view a very well preserved piece of working class art history. Riders of all levels of experience should feel free to join in.
BRING: water, knobby/treaded tires, pump and patch kit, a wind-proof layer (gets hot going up, windy at the top), food and drink to picnic on, a lock (cable OK, as no stops in the mission or tenderloin), good brakes, lights to get home with
DURATION the 10-12 mile ride will involve a good 1500 feet of climbing (not all in one go) but we will stop for a picnic and take a moderate pace, so the ride should wrap up around sunset.
heavy rain cancels (light rain OK)
all skill levels welcome
This is NOT a race.
