Kings Community Action Organization's Crisis Support Services (KCAO, CSS) will be holding a 64 hour Advocate training beginning the 27th of March and ending May 15, 2009. There will be 8 Friday sessions from at 8:30AM and ending at 5:30PM.
The 64 hour training will cover sexual assault services, domestic violence office based services, advocacy, safety planning, child sexual abuse, peer counseling, medical & psychological care, shelter services, criminal justice procedure and much, much more. The Volunteer Advocate would be State Certified as a Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Peer Counselor and expected to participate in manning 24-hour hot line, hospital advocacy, peer counseling, community education, outreach regarding domestic violence/sexual assault and child sexual abuse
If anyone is interested please contact Lupe Sanchez Garcia (Victim Services Coordinator KCAO, CSS) at 559-585-1018. The trainings are in Hanford and we are asking that the potential volunteer be able to respond to a Crisis Situation within 30 minutes in addition to passing the DOJ background check. I have attached a flyer for your convenience. If you know of anyone interested please do not hesitate to pass this message and flyer along.
