March 14: PSL film: "In the Shadow of the Palms-Iraq
This Saturday, March 14 at 5pm the PSL will be showing "In the Shadow of the Palms - Iraq," a profound and important film undercutting some of the myths and lies about Iraq prior to the U.S. invasion. We are providing popcorn and drinks, and asking for a small donation to help fund the upcoming March 21st protest in solidarity with our Iraqi brothers & sisters. Please bring your friends and supporters to help us spread the word about the march. After the movie there will be a short political discussion.
The feature length documentary film on the Iraq war, “In the Shadow of the Palms”, has been described as a ‘humane and profoundly authentic’ portrayal of the struggles of the people of Iraq through this tumultuous war. The film documents the lives of ordinary people preparing for the war in the months leading up to the invasion and shows the brutal and indiscriminant ‘shock and awe’ bombing of Baghdad. The filmmaker returns to document how the peoples’ lives have changed under the US-led occupation.
