Zen Boyfriends is a one-act play that playfully satires New Age spirituality through the eyes of a young woman looking for love in California in a sea of boys playing with spiritual toys. A Zen Boyfriend is a man who “skillfully uses his spiritual ideals and practices as an excuse for his terror of any type of real relationship with a woman.” The piece is designed to explore the transformational possibilities of conveying dharma, or life’s lessons, through theater and humor.
