As China and India continue their ascent as emerging powers, how does the Tibet issue affect their? On the 50th anniversary of Tibetan Uprising Day, Tenzin Tethong will discuss the complex geo-political relationship between China and India and how the recent resurgence surrounding the Tibet issue has affected these emerging powers. Tibetan Uprising Day commemorates the 1959 Tibetan demonstrations against the People’s Republic of China's presence in Tibet followed by the flight of the 14th Dalai Lama and thousands of Tibetans where they are currently exiled in India, which is a source of friction and distrust between China and India. The program will be followed by a wine reception.
