Complete Description:
“UNAVOIDABLE ELATION”,
A Night of IMPROVISED THEATER for a Great Cause!
Some of the bay area’s most talented improvisers will gather on Friday, February 27th for a fun-filled night of improvised theater to benefit award winning singer/actress and former head of the College of Marin Drama Department Carla Zilbersmith, who was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) last year. ALS is a fatal neurological illness that robs its victims of muscular and nerve function. Zilbersmith has performed her acclaimed solo show WEDDING SINGER BLUES in theatres all up and down the West Coast and in New York. She is now totally confined to a wheelchair and the time is fast approaching when she will require full time, around the clock assistance for which she has no provisions and which is not covered by health insurance. Estimates for this kind of care run conservatively at as much as $11,000 per month.
“UNAVOIDABLE ELATION” will play for one night only in the Studio Theater at the College of Marin on Friday, February 27th at 8 pm. This completely improvised show is sure to be packed with much audience-involved hilarity and fun, guaranteed to tickle your funny bone. Join Mandy Koshnevisan, Mick Laugs, Gina Stahl-Ricco, and Christian Utzman for one wacky, totally unpredictable night of goofy hijinks.
Showtime for “UNAVOIDABLE ELATION” is 8pm, doors open at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20 general, $15 for students/seniors and can be reserved by calling 415-497-2313. Tickets are also available at the door, but the theatre is small and seating is on a first come/first served basis. All proceeds benefit the medical fund for Carla Zilbersmith. If you are unable to attend, but would still like to help Carla through this difficult time, please send donations to the Carla Zilbersmith Fund, C/O College of Marin Foundation, P.O. Box 446, Kentfield, CA 94914.
