'Post-Edge' is an art show containing political prints, video and an interactive research wall. Topics represented in the work are animal rights, human rights, consumerism, war, personal health, and the environment etc.
'Post-Edge' refers to a specific part of my life; a specific point when I realized that life is about moderation. Being straight-edge or being an alcoholic, for example, are each forms of extremism. Both have ups and downs, yet neither equate to a balanced, relaxed and non-alienating lifestyle. Straight-edge started in the 80's because teenagers were tired of being brought up by drunken, smoking, war-time parents. 'Post-Edge' is the time after straight-edge where there are no extremes, no self-deprivation or overindulgence. It is when one has entire control over their body and life without suffering. This way of living is the reason I am not dead, it is the reason I'm still in school and the reason for all the work that is in my art show this March.
I hope my art inspires others to become activists, because without actions nothing gets accomplished and without activists our opinion will always be held down.
